RAABS™ – yellow dwarf mini rose - Olesen & Olesen

If you dream of a cheerful little rose that simply gets on with the job, RAABS™ is a compact, reliable patio rose that copes well with Ireland’s soft light and frequent showers, even where heavy clay needs a bit of extra drainage. Its bushy, compact growth and dense, glossy foliage make it ideal for small front gardens, cottage-style borders and pretty pots by your door, offering a bright wash of golden-yellow blooms from early summer into autumn. Flowers clean themselves, so there is very little deadheading to worry about, and the own-root form gives long-term stability, helping the plant to regrow strongly if damaged. Think of it settling its roots in year one, building up neat flowering shoots in year two, and by year three giving you its full ornamental character with minimal fuss.

Usage options

Target area Reasoning
Small city front garden bed The naturally compact, bushy habit (around 22–38 cm high) keeps RAABS™ neat along paths and railings without blocking windows or views, making it ideal where space is tight but colour is welcome – a bright option for the busy homeowner.
Patio containers and large pots This dwarf rose thrives in containers; in Ireland’s wet climate it does best in a free-draining compost mix in at least a 40–50 litre pot, where its tidy shape and golden flowers add structure with little clipping – perfect for the balcony gardener.
Cottage-style mixed border Its steady repeat-flowering creates a long yellow thread through the season, weaving between perennials in a soft, romantic style that suits Irish cottage gardens and terraces – a charming choice for the cottage-garden lover.
Low flowering edge or mini hedge Regular spacing at 25–30 cm forms a low, sun-catching ribbon of bloom that defines paths or lawn edges without becoming overgrown, with good self-cleaning so the line always looks tidy – ideal for the orderly planner.
Easy-care family garden planting Good resistance to black spot and rust means fewer spray routines, and a medium maintenance level suits people who like gardening but cannot commit to constant care – reassuring for the time-poor beginner.
Long-season colour near seating areas Remontant flowering brings fresh flushes; the second wave is also abundant, so even a short Irish summer feels longer when seen from a favourite chair – especially satisfying for the evening unwinder.
Durable, long-lived focal point As an own-root plant it can regenerate from its base after wind, cold or accidental damage, giving a stable, long-lived feature that keeps its ornamental quality year after year – reassuring for the long-term planner.
Rain-tolerant, low-mess entrance planting In showery Atlantic weather the tidy, self-shedding petals mean spent blooms drop cleanly without turning brown on the plant, even where soil needs improved drainage underfoot, helping keep entrances smart for the house-proud host.

Styling ideas

  • Sunny doorstep trio – Group three RAABS™ in terracotta pots with trailing sweet alyssum to soften the edges – suited to the small-front-garden owner who wants instant cottage charm.
  • Cottage ribbon – Plant a low line along a path, weaving between clumps of hardy geraniums for a relaxed, Irish-cottage feel – ideal for those who like informal but coordinated planting.
  • Golden balcony box – Combine RAABS™ with blue Agastache ‘Blue Fortune’ in a large trough for a soft yellow-and-blue scheme – perfect for balcony and terrace gardeners seeking easy structure.
  • Family lawn edge – Use as a neat, low edging around a small lawn, where children play, keeping colour at their level without thorny, over-tall stems – good for families wanting tidy but friendly planting.
  • Year-round anchor – Place a single RAABS™ in a generous 50 litre pot as a permanent feature, underplanting with seasonal bedding to refresh the look – ideal for urban homeowners who like one reliable centrepiece.

Information about the videos
The video series is not a “seasonal showcase”, but makes the essence of pharmaROSA® own-root production tangible: how the plant is built, what the root system is like and how the shoots renew themselves. The footage was therefore taken at different times, showing plants at different stages of development, so mixed leaf coverage or differing growth stages may appear in the videos. This is not a “sample” of the batch delivered, but an illustration of how the technology works. The current condition of the rose available to order — typical of the given period and similar to what you can expect to receive in the parcel — is shown at the top of the product page.
