MOIN MOIN ® – pink dwarf-mini rose – Kordes

Stroll out to the front step for a moment of cheerful quiet and you will find MOIN MOIN ® lighting up your small Irish garden with cottage charm. This compact, dwarf floribunda covers itself in clusters of clear mid-pink blooms that hold their colour beautifully, even in damp weather and soft Atlantic light where rain-soaked days and mild summers keep petals fresh. Easy to plant in borders or containers, its naturally compact habit needs very little pruning or feeding, so you can enjoy reliable flowering without constant work. As an own-root rose it builds a strong base, living for many years and bouncing back well if damaged, settling in gently through the natural rhythm of year one roots, year two shoots, year three full ornamental value. Ideal for busy households and tight city spaces, its healthy dark foliage and long season of soft-pink clusters create a relaxed, peaceful backdrop for everyday life. Tuck it beside a path, frame a doorway, or group several together for a small-scale hedge that looks neat and welcoming. In larger containers (40–50 litres or more) it becomes a long-lived, low-fuss feature that offers quiet contentment whenever you step outside, blending neatly with your existing family planting.

Usage options

Target areaReasoning
Front garden bed in a Dublin terrace The dwarf, compact habit keeps everything tidy along narrow paths and short front gardens, while repeat clusters of mid-pink bloom give a welcoming look with minimal pruning or feeding for beginners.
Low cottage-garden hedge Dense branching, glossy foliage and steady flowering allow you to plant a low edging hedge at 30 cm spacing, forming a soft, floral boundary that suits informal Irish cottage-style gardens for homeowners.
Feature rose in a large container In a 40–50 litre pot with good drainage, its compact size and strong own-root system create a long-lived, portable focal point that handles exposed doorsteps or patios with little maintenance for urbanites.
Mixed border with perennials Reliable, uniform mid-pink flowers that barely fade in sun slip easily into mixed plantings with penstemon or coneflowers, keeping colour going from early summer to autumn for colour-lovers.
Small family back garden Neat 60–80 cm growth and moderate thorns make it easy to fit among children’s play spaces, giving long-season bloom without spreading wildly or demanding complicated care for families.
Low-maintenance rose collection ADR status and strong resistance to powdery mildew and rust mean fewer fungicide sprays and less worry in humid Irish weather, suiting gardeners who value resilient, climate-conscious planting for busy-owners.
Flower-filled path or driveway edge At 35 cm spacing it forms a gently billowing pink edge, thriving even where soft Atlantic breezes and frequent showers dominate, needing only light seasonal trimming for path-gardeners.
Long-term own-root planting scheme As an own-root rose it builds strength year after year, regenerating well after harsh winters or hard pruning and offering stable ornamental value with little intervention for long-planners.

Styling ideas

  • Cottage-Ribbon – Run a low line of MOIN MOIN ® along a front path, underplanting with lavender and hare’s‑ear for a loose, storybook cottage edge – ideal for nostalgic garden-lovers.
  • Terrace-Jewel – Plant one rose in a 50-litre clay pot by the front door, with trailing ivy and white lobelia to frame the pink clusters – perfect for apartment or townhouse residents.
  • Pastel-Patch – Combine small groups of this rose with pale pink penstemon and soft grasses to create a gentle, meadowy feel – suited to relaxed, nature-oriented gardeners.
  • Family-Frame – Place pairs on either side of a garden gate or play area, where the compact size stays manageable around children – good for young families wanting easy structure.
  • Neat-Border – Edge a mixed bed with a short row, backing it with taller perennials like Rudbeckia for contrast and continuous colour – great for tidy-minded hobby gardeners.

Technical cultivar profile
CharacteristicData
Name and registration Miniature, dwarf floribunda from the Flower Circus® collection; registered as KORfloci23, marketed as Moin Moin ® / Pink Flower Circus®, exhibition category bed and container floribunda.
Origin and breeding Seedling × seedling cross bred by Tim‑Hermann Kordes, W. Kordes’ Söhne, Germany; bred in 1999, registered 2011, introduced after 2011 with US plant patent application PP 23 558.
Awards and recognition Holds ADR (2015) for garden performance; awarded 2nd prize, new floribunda category at Bagatelle, Paris (2013), plus a Certificate of Merit at the Belfast International Rose Competition in 2013.
Growth and structural characteristics Compact, bushy plant 60–80 cm high and 45–55 cm wide, with dense, glossy dark green foliage and moderate prickliness; forms a neat, rounded shape suitable for containers and edging.
Flower morphology Double, cupped blooms with 26–39 petals, medium-sized at 4–7 cm, carried in clusters; repeat-flowering with abundant second flush, making a continuous display through the main season.
Colour data and phenology Vivid mid-pink flowers (RHS 55B outer, 55C inner) that hold colour extremely well; buds open dark mid-pink, then soften to pastel pink with a gentle, pearly sheen as the blooms mature.
Fragrance and aroma Fragrance is classed as very weak, with barely perceptible scent; this cultivar is chosen primarily for its reliable flower production, colour stability and overall ornamental garden effect.
Hip characteristics Rose hips are few due to double, remontant flowers; when present they are small, 8–11 mm diameter, spherical and red, adding modest late-season interest but not dominating the plant.
Resistance and winter hardiness Hardy to approximately −26 to −23 °C (H7, USDA 5b, Swedish Zone 4); resistant to powdery mildew and rust, with moderate black spot tolerance, and copes with summer heat if watered in drought.
Horticultural recommendations Low-maintenance rose for beds, borders, containers and urban plantings; space 30–55 cm depending on use, in well-drained soil with basic feeding and only light annual pruning required.

MOIN MOIN ® brings compact, long-season pink flowering, healthy low-maintenance growth and durable own-root performance to small Irish gardens and containers, making it a thoughtful choice if you value easy, reliable colour.

Information about the videos
The video series is not a “seasonal showcase”, but makes the essence of pharmaROSA® own-root production tangible: how the plant is built, what the root system is like and how the shoots renew themselves. The footage was therefore taken at different times, showing plants at different stages of development, so mixed leaf coverage or differing growth stages may appear in the videos. This is not a “sample” of the batch delivered, but an illustration of how the technology works. The current condition of the rose available to order — typical of the given period and similar to what you can expect to receive in the parcel — is shown at the top of the product page.
