JOLEEN ™ – pink nostalgic rose - Olesen

If you dream of a softly romantic cottage look without complicated care, JOLEEN™ brings abundant pastel blooms and fragrance to your garden with reassuring ease. This bushy shrub rose flowers generously in flushes, keeping borders colourful from early summer well into autumn, even when our Irish summers are short and changeable, with their mix of showers and gentle winds off the Atlantic. Large, very full rosette blooms in a delicate, warm pink create a truly nostalgic feel, perfect for “girly” spaces by the front door, along a path, or beside a low picket fence. JOLEEN™ is grown on its own roots for a naturally long-lived and stable plant that can regenerate from the base, giving lasting ornamental value with modest maintenance. In year one it concentrates on roots, year two brings stronger shoots, and by year three you enjoy its full character as a rounded, rose-filled feature that feels at once romantic and quietly cheerful.

Usage options

Target areaReasoning
Front garden focal shrub The bushy, 90–120 cm habit and large, very full rosette flowers make JOLEEN™ an ideal solo feature near your front door or bay window, giving soft, romantic structure with relatively simple care for the beginner.
Cottage-style mixed border Its pastel pink colour and repeat flowering sit beautifully among foxgloves, lavender, and airy perennials, sustaining a traditional cottage feel with reliable flushes rather than high-maintenance fuss for the hobby-gardener.
Informal low hedge Planted at about 50 cm spacing, the dense foliage and rounded growth link plants into a loose, flowery screen, offering privacy and charm without the rigid pruning regime of formal hedging for the homeowner.
Small city garden feature JOLEEN™ packs generous bloom power into a modest footprint, so even compact Dublin front gardens gain height, scent, and colour without demanding daily attention from the urban-gardener.
Large container on patio In a 40–50 litre pot with good drainage, JOLEEN™ becomes a moveable highlight; regular watering and light feeding are usually enough to enjoy its nostalgic flowers and fragrance for the balcony-owner.
Romantic path or driveway edge Repeat flushes of soft pink blooms guide the eye along paths and drives, softening hard edges; occasional deadheading keeps the show going with manageable effort for the time-poor.
Long-season flowering bed Remontant flowering ensures a generous second flush after the first, so borders do not look bare even when summer is short and cool, echoing our often rainy, softly lit Irish seasons for the planner.
Long-term, low-fuss planting As an own-root shrub with mid-level disease resistance, JOLEEN™ settles in gradually, building a durable framework that can regenerate if cut back, supporting years of gentle enjoyment for the nature-lover.

Information about the videos
The video series is not a “seasonal showcase”, but makes the essence of pharmaROSA® own-root production tangible: how the plant is built, what the root system is like and how the shoots renew themselves. The footage was therefore taken at different times, showing plants at different stages of development, so mixed leaf coverage or differing growth stages may appear in the videos. This is not a “sample” of the batch delivered, but an illustration of how the technology works. The current condition of the rose available to order — typical of the given period and similar to what you can expect to receive in the parcel — is shown at the top of the product page.
